Alright, this is my first time buying a cellphone off ebay and my current wireless plan isn’t up until next year. So I know I can put this new phone on. So here are my questions
Is it safe to buy a cellphone off ebay? I bought it from a power seller with 98% good feedback and I payed with paypal
If the phone doesn’t work and it’s under waranty but I didn’t buy the phone what do I do?
How do I know if the serial number is ” Clear ”

I don’t know it just depends. I wouldn’t buy a phone off somebody else from the internet just because anything could happen. You might want to get the warrenty information from the person who is selling you the phone unless they do it by ssn and stuff like that, if so then you won’t get the warrenty. I don’t know if there is a way of getting info on the serial number, you can try calling Verizon and see what they can say.

i have purchased some cellular phones off ebay with no problems but realize that ebay and paypal both have disputing links that you can go through if you really need to.
you can check with the carrier (verizon) and ask them if it is clear. the person listing it should have mentioned that or you might have wanted to ask prior to purchasing it.
if it is not clear then there is nothing you can do since the carrier will want you to clear it (pay what ever money is left). you dont have to if you dont activate it.
if you are still under contract and want to add this phone as a secondary – that will be fine. also, you can have your carrier replace your other phone with this one – in other words, they will turn off your other phone and turn on the new one.
since you have purchased this phone fro somewhere other than your carrier – there is no contract to worry about EVER, which is uber nice. you can basically never have a contract with your carrier again unless you actually purchase the new phone from them.
if you dont have the phone yet – ask the seller for the EIN number – they should provide it to you. that way you can check with your carrier before it arrives. if it is not clear – accept the package but dont open it and start your disputing process with ebay and paypal. you have to wait 10 days after purchase to start the dispute and it does take awhile but well worth it.
